Government Buildings, Government building at Merrion Street Upper, Dublin, Ireland
The Government Buildings consists of a central rectangular structure with four stories, constructed using Portland stone and granite from Wicklow quarries.
The building, completed in 1922, initially served as the Royal College of Science before becoming the headquarters of the Irish Free State government.
The ceremonial staircase leads to a stained glass window designed by Evie Hone, depicting the four provinces of Ireland in green tones.
Free guided tours operate every Saturday between 10:30 and 13:30, with tickets available from the National Gallery of Ireland on Clare Street.
The Italian Room features furniture and tiles manufactured in Italy, combined with Irish tweed fabrics, creating a distinct interior design.
