Carmit

Carmit is a residential community in the northern Negev region, located where highways 60 and 31 intersect. The homes spread across rolling hills with forest reserves and vineyards, roughly 15 minutes from Beer Sheva.

The settlement was founded in 2005 by the Jewish National Fund and the OR Movement to house North American immigrants. The first construction phase included 739 housing units designed for this group.

Residents at Carmit come from many different countries and follow different lifestyles, creating a diverse community. You will encounter both religious and secular families building new lives together in this Negev region.

The area has many schools and educational facilities, with some children attending schools in the nearby town of Metar. Infrastructure continues to develop, so it helps to check current conditions before visiting.

Each residential plot covers about 620 square meters, which is notable for this type of settlement. When all planned building phases are complete, around 2,500 families are expected to live here.
