Cave of Elijah, Sacred cave at Mount Carmel, Israel

The 14-meter-long grotto sits on the northern slope of Mount Carmel, with two separate chambers divided by a velvet curtain for prayer purposes.

According to biblical accounts, Prophet Elijah used this cave as a meditation place before his confrontation with 450 priests of Baal in ancient times.

The cave holds religious significance for four major faiths - Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and Druze - who regard it as a spiritual destination.

Located on Allenby Road in Haifa, the cave maintains regular visiting hours from Sunday through Thursday, 8 AM to 5 PM, and Fridays until 1 PM.

Ancient inscriptions from previous pilgrims remain visible on the cave walls, documenting centuries of spiritual journeys to this sacred location.
