Tikotin Museum of Japanese Art, Japanese art museum on Mount Carmel, Haifa, Israel
The Tikotin Museum houses 8,000 pieces of Japanese art, including paintings, prints, textiles, and ceramics from the 17th to 19th centuries.
Felix Tikotin, a Dutch collector, established the museum in 1959 after safeguarding his Japanese art collection during World War II in the Netherlands.
The museum organizes regular exhibitions, workshops in Japanese calligraphy, language classes, and traditional ceremonies to promote Japanese cultural understanding.
The museum features a specialized library containing 3,000 publications about Japanese art and culture, accessible to researchers and art enthusiasts.
In 1995, architects Junzo Yoshimura and Al Mansfeld designed a new wing that integrates modern facilities with traditional Japanese architectural elements.
