Arc, Religious administrative complex on Mount Carmel, Haifa, Israel.
The Arc is a religious administrative complex on Mount Carmel in Haifa, comprising five main buildings arranged in a curved pattern along the hillside. The structures connect through underground passages and overlook the Mediterranean Sea from their elevated location.
Construction of the complex began in the mid-20th century when the Archives Building was completed as the first structure, storing original manuscripts from faith founders. The project expanded over subsequent decades to create the current five-building ensemble.
This complex serves as the global administrative center of the Bahai Faith, where offices and study rooms reflect the community's values and organization. Visitors experience how the buildings function as a spiritual and practical hub for believers worldwide.
A daytime visit works best when the grounds and surroundings are clearly visible and the pathways are easy to navigate. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended since you will move across the hillside terrain and through various areas of the complex.
The architectural design draws from classical traditions, featuring over 60 columns in the classical style and green-tiled roofs spanning multiple buildings. This design choice creates a visual thread that unifies and connects the entire site.
