Louis Promenade, Coastal esplanade on Mount Carmel slopes in Haifa, Israel
Louis Promenade is a 400-meter coastal footpath along Yefe Nof Street on the slopes of Mount Carmel, stretching above Haifa Bay and the Mediterranean Sea. The path offers continuous open views of the water and the northern Israeli coastline throughout its length.
The path was created in 1992 as a memorial by a local couple. The site also holds remnants from earlier periods, including an obelisk marking an imperial visit and a preserved Turkish cannon from the city's Ottoman era.
The promenade is named after a young man and functions as a place where people pause to take in views of the sea and the city below. Visitors come here to reflect and appreciate the landscape.
Access is available through several entry points, including the Carmelit subway station near major hotels. The pathways are level and easy to walk, with open areas where visitors can stop and rest.
From this vantage point, visitors can see multiple notable landmarks at once, including the terraced gardens below and the city port. The location allows people to take in different parts of the region and even distant peaks all from one spot.
