Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, Sea bridge in Mumbai Metropolitan Region, India
Mumbai Trans Harbour Link is a road bridge connecting Mumbai to Navi Mumbai across the harbor, offering six traffic lanes over a distance of roughly 22 kilometers. The structure rests on pillars anchored in the seabed and runs above open water between both shorelines.
Construction began in April 2018 and lasted through numerous challenges until January 2024. The project continued during a global health crisis and was eventually completed.
The crossing carries the name of a former prime minister and stands as a national transport project. Drivers use it daily to commute between the two urban areas.
A toll system applies to vehicles crossing the span, with cars paying around 200 rupees. The journey between the two cities takes approximately 30 minutes and may vary depending on traffic conditions.
Engineers installed special noise barriers and vision screens along roughly 6 kilometers. These measures protect both drivers and migratory birds during their seasonal movements.
