Foy's Lake

Foy's Lake is a reservoir in northern Chittagong situated at an elevation of approximately 35 meters and surrounded by green hills. The water body is accompanied by recreational facilities including an amusement park, boating areas, and fishing spots.

The reservoir originated in 1924 through the construction of a dam across a stream initiated by a railway engineer. The project was originally designed to supply water to a local railway colony and has shaped the area since then.

The reservoir serves as a social hub where families and students gather to spend time together and celebrate local festivals. Food vendors along the shores offer traditional Bangladeshi cuisine, which forms part of the site's daily community rhythm.

The site is accessible by public transportation and offers straightforward pathways to explore different areas. The best time to visit is early morning or late afternoon when the weather is pleasant and crowds are thinner.

The site preserves striking remnants of its railway past with an operating workshop and diesel facility on the grounds. These industrial structures stand in curious contrast to the modern recreational venues that have developed around the water.
