Marchreisenspitze, Mountain summit in Stubai Alps, Austria

Marchreisenspitze is a summit in the Kalkkögel range reaching approximately 2,620 meters, characterized by steep cliff faces and exposed limestone formations. The terrain is defined by sharp-edged rock structures that dominate the overall appearance of this alpine peak.

The peak saw its first documented ascent by Carl Gsaller on June 26, 1879, establishing the initial climbing route. This achievement marked the beginning of recorded alpinism on this limestone summit.

The mountain forms part of a distinctive three-peak formation above Axamer Lizum, visible throughout the Ötztal and deeply rooted in local alpine culture. The formation shapes the landscape and serves as a landmark that locals regularly use for orientation.

Access starts from Axamer Lizum at approximately 1,564 meters elevation, where the Lustiger-Bergler Steig serves as the main climbing route. Expect significant elevation gain and exposed terrain on this demanding approach.

Near the mountain lie the remains of a B-24 bomber that crashed on June 9, 1944, during wartime operations. This World War II relic is often encountered by climbers and serves as a tangible reminder of the region's military history.
