The Museum der Moderne Salzburg operates across two locations, featuring exhibition spaces that display modern and contemporary artworks from the 19th century to present day.
The museum originated from art dealer Friedrich Welz's donation of his private collection to Salzburg, with the Rupertinum location opening in 1983 and Mönchsberg in 2004.
The collection encompasses 55,000 pieces focusing on graphics and photography, including works from Austrian expressionist Oskar Kokoschka and numerous contemporary artists.
Visitors can explore the museum Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00, with extended hours until 20:00 on Wednesdays, while admission costs 14 euros.
The Mönchsberg building, designed by Friedrich Hoff & Zwink architects, incorporates local Untersberg marble across its four levels of exhibition space.
