Kloster Und

Kloster Und is a former Capuchin monastery in Krems an der Donau featuring multiple interconnected buildings arranged around courtyards and arcades. The complex includes vaulted cellars beneath, a central church with marble altars, and decorated ceilings with painted frescoes throughout.

The monastery was founded in 1614 and housed a religious community for nearly two centuries. It was dissolved in 1796 and the monks were transferred to other religious institutions.

The statue of the Virgin Mary from Prague drew pilgrims seeking healing and blessings over many centuries. The site became known for the sacred waters of the Danube and served as a pilgrimage destination for devout people across the region.
