Sacré Coeur Riedenburg, Catholic monastery and educational complex in Bregenz, Austria
Sacré Coeur Riedenburg includes a monastery, church, primary school, gymnasium, and boarding facilities on the eastern shore of Lake Constance.
The site dates back to 1406 when the original residence of Lords of Niedegge was destroyed during the Appenzell War and later restored by Hanns Schmid.
The neo-Gothic monastery church, constructed between 1862 and 1865, contains wooden reliefs depicting Stations of the Cross and sandstone saint figures on side altars.
The institution provides comprehensive education from primary through gymnasium levels, with options for day attendance and boarding accommodations.
The complex underwent transformation from a noble residence to an educational monastery in 1853 when Magdalena Sophie Barat acquired the property.
