Burg Hohenbregenz consists of medieval castle ruins standing at approximately 598 meters elevation on Gebhardsberg mountain near Bregenz. The remains include sections of the original ring wall, parts of the former palace structure, and a pilgrimage church from the 18th century.
History
The fortress was founded in the 10th century and served as an important stronghold for centuries. Swedish forces destroyed it in 1647 during the Thirty Years' War using five explosive charges.

The St. Gebhard pilgrimage church, built in 1723 within the former palace walls, shapes the character of this hilltop. Visitors today encounter a site where religious devotion and medieval ruins coexist.
