Beethoven-Haus, Museum house in Baden, Austria

The Beethoven-Haus stands at Rathausgasse 10, featuring Biedermeier-style living quarters with period wall paintings adorned with floral patterns and palm leaves.

During the summers of 1821 to 1823, Ludwig van Beethoven resided in this house, owned by Johann Bayer, while seeking treatment in Baden's thermal waters.

The composer created substantial portions of his masterful Ninth Symphony within these walls, introducing the revolutionary concept of human voices in symphonic music.

The museum opens Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, offering guided tours on weekends and holidays at 2:00 PM for three euros per person.

The ceiling paintings discovered during renovations reveal authentic decorative elements from Beethoven's time, including distinctive vine patterns and botanical motifs.
