Villa Peham, Heritage villa in Hinterstoder, Austria
The Villa Peham stood near the river Steyr, featuring architectural elements from the 1920s designed by Siegfried Theiss and Hans Jaksch.
Built between 1924 and 1926 for Viennese gynecologist Heinrich Peham, the property later became a recreational facility owned by Upper Austria state.
The villa represented the architectural preferences of medical professionals who frequently spent their holidays in the Austrian mountains during the early 20th century.
In 2007, the municipality of Hinterstoder purchased the protected monument from Upper Austria state before its destruction by arson in September 2015.
The demolition of Villa Peham occurred without proper authorization, leading to protests against plans for converting the site into a luxury camping resort.
