Kleiner Priel

Kleiner Priel is a mountain summit in the Totes Gebirge range that rises to 2,136 meters. The route climbs through forested terrain before transitioning to rocky alpine sections near the peak.

The mountain has long served as a regional landmark within the Totes Gebirge range. Over time, the climbing route was developed and marked to become the established trail used by hikers today.

Local mountaineering traditions include annual gatherings at the summit cross, where regional climbing communities exchange experiences and maintain route documentation.

The trail starts from the Hinterstoder area and requires solid fitness and comfort with exposed sections. Proper hiking boots and weather-resistant gear are essential, especially for the rocky upper sections that can become slippery in wet conditions.

On clear days, the summit offers views across multiple mountain ranges at once, including Traunstein and Sengsengebirge. This broad perspective from a single vantage point creates one of the memorable aspects of reaching the top.
