Mariä-Geburt-Kathedrale, Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in Bijeljina, Bosnia and Herzegovina
The cathedral, completed in 2009, features a 44-meter-high bell tower, copper roofing, and follows the Serbian-Byzantine architectural design with a Greek cross layout.
The construction of the cathedral began in 1999 following the decision to relocate the episcopal seat from Tuzla to Bijeljina after the Bosnian War.
The cathedral contains an iconostasis with religious artworks created by national artists, including contributions from Miloš Maksimović and other Serbian craftsmen.
The cathedral serves four parishes of Bijeljina and includes the 112-square-meter Saint Sava House, which contains a public kitchen and parish office.
A memorial dedicated to Serbian mothers who lost their sons in conflicts since 1389 stands next to the cathedral, installed in 2016.
