Former thermal baths of Spa

The Renaissance Revival building features two floors with ornate architectural details, characteristic stone masonry work, and symmetrical window arrangements throughout its facade.

The thermal baths, designed by architect Léon Suys, opened their doors on August 15, 1868, after a construction period that required an investment of 1,500,000 Belgian francs.

The establishment played a central role in developing European wellness practices, as visitors from different social classes gathered to experience the mineral-rich thermal waters.

The Former Thermal Baths earned recognition as an Exceptional Heritage Property of Wallonia in 2016, ensuring its preservation for future generations to study and explore.

Located at coordinates 50°29'31N, 5°51'51E, this bathhouse operated continuously for 135 years until 2003, serving as a model for thermal establishments across Europe.
