Ratiaria

Ratiaria is an ancient Roman settlement in Bulgaria situated on the Danube River banks. Excavations have uncovered the foundations of temples, baths, houses, and defensive walls spread across the site.

The settlement was founded in the 1st century and developed into a major Roman military base. It later became a significant trading hub during the Byzantine period.

The settlement shows traces of Roman daily life through scattered pottery and coins found across the grounds. These objects tell stories about the people who lived and worked in this riverside community.
