Upper Clements Parks, Theme park in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Upper Clements Parks was a theme park in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia, divided into two sections: an amusement area with a wooden roller coaster and a water area with a water coaster. The park sat within a wooded setting near the Bay of Fundy shore, giving it a natural backdrop unlike most urban parks.
The park opened in 1989 with support from the provincial government and ran for just over 30 years before closing after the 2019 season. It was one of the few provincially backed amusement parks in Atlantic Canada.
For many families in Nova Scotia, a summer visit to Upper Clements Parks was a yearly tradition that brought different generations together. The wooden roller coaster in particular became a reference point for local childhood memories across the region.
The site is no longer open as a theme park, so a visit requires checking in advance what is currently accessible on the grounds. The area around Annapolis Royal itself is worth exploring, with the Bay of Fundy nearby and several other heritage sites in the region.
The wooden roller coaster at Upper Clements Parks was one of very few of its kind in Atlantic Canada, which made it a draw for coaster enthusiasts from outside the province. After closing, the land was bought by the Municipality of Annapolis County in 2020 with plans to turn it into an educational space.
