Doon Heritage Village, Living history museum in Kitchener, Canada
The Doon Heritage Village spans across 60 acres with 22 buildings that demonstrate daily routines and activities from rural Ontario in 1914.
The site started as Doon Pioneer Village in 1957 through the efforts of Dr. A.E. Broome, who aimed to preserve rural heritage during Ontario's urbanization.
The Peter Martin House from 1820 represents Pennsylvania Mennonite settlers who shaped the agricultural development of Waterloo County with their traditional practices.
The museum currently undergoes infrastructure updates, including water, electricity, and communication systems, with a scheduled reopening planned for 2025.
The Petersburg Railway Station from 1856 features original Grand Trunk Railway architecture and served as a connection point between rural communities and major cities.
