Little Portugal, Portuguese ethnic neighborhood in Toronto, Canada

Little Portugal spreads along Dundas Street West and College Street, where you find Portuguese shops, restaurants, and bakeries mixed with residential buildings. The neighborhood has a consistent streetscape of 2 to 3-story structures that frame the pedestrian experience throughout the area.

The neighborhood took shape in the early 20th century when Portuguese immigrants settled here and established their community. The Ideal Bread Company, which operated from 1919 until 1957, was a key local business that anchored economic life in the area.

The Church of Our Lady Queen of Portugal is a gathering place for religious services and community celebrations throughout the year. People come here to mark traditional Portuguese holidays and connect with their shared heritage.

The area is well served by streetcars on lines 505 and 506, and multiple bus routes run along Lansdowne, Dufferin, and Ossington streets. Wear comfortable walking shoes since most shops and restaurants are accessible directly from the sidewalk along these main streets.

McCormick Park houses a recreation center and ice arena that serves as an important meeting point for residents and offers activities throughout the year. The facility has been a neighborhood anchor for generations, hosting sports events and community gatherings.
