Mauvoisin dam, Double-curve arch dam in Val de Bagnes, Switzerland.
The reinforced concrete structure stretches 520 meters across the valley and rises 250 meters high, forming a water reservoir of 211 million cubic meters.
Construction of the dam began in 1951 and concluded in 1958, with an additional height increase of 13.5 meters implemented during renovations in 1991.
The dam represents a cornerstone of Swiss engineering achievement and holds status as a class B cultural property of regional significance in Switzerland.
Visitors can reach the dam through a service road starting near the 14th-century chapel in Mauvoisin, requiring a 30-minute uphill walk to the summit.
The structure ranks as the second-highest arch dam worldwide, with base measurements of 53.5 meters tapering to 12 meters at the crown.
