Espenmoos, Football stadium in St. Gallen, Switzerland.
Espenmoos is a football stadium in St. Gallen, in the canton of St. Gallen, Switzerland, with a natural grass main pitch and a separate artificial turf field used for training. The ground has a covered grandstand on one side and open standing areas along the rest of the pitch.
The stadium opened in 1910 and served as the home ground of FC St. Gallen, one of the oldest football clubs in Switzerland, for nearly a century. When the club moved to a new arena in 2008, the ground took on a new role focused on women's football and smaller competitions.
Espenmoos is closely tied to women's football in the region and serves as a home ground for local clubs playing at different levels. On match days, fans gather in the stands and watch from a short distance, giving the place a local and personal feel.
The ground is within walking distance of central St. Gallen and easy to reach on foot from several directions. For bigger matches, arriving early is a good idea, as parking nearby is limited.
The artificial turf field was approved for higher-level competitions in 2009, which was still relatively rare in Switzerland at the time. This approval made the ground a go-to training spot for teams from outside the region as well.
