Calandahütte, Mountain hut in Grisons, Switzerland
Calandahütte is a mountain hut located in the Grisons Alps at approximately 2070 meters (6,790 feet) elevation. It provides basic overnight accommodation and meals for hikers and mountaineers traveling through this alpine region.
The Swiss Alpine Club established this hut in 1891 to provide shelter for mountaineers exploring the region. Since then it has served as a key base for expeditions and mountain travel in Grisons.
The mountain hut maintains Swiss Alpine traditions through its operation by the Swiss Alpine Club, supporting mountain activities and outdoor exploration.
The hut has about 36 sleeping places and basic facilities for overnight stays. It is best to bring weather-resistant gear, as conditions at this elevation can change quickly.
Multiple hiking routes from the hut lead to the peaks of Haldensteiner Calanda and Felsberger Calanda. These summits offer views across the surrounding mountains and are popular day-trip destinations from the shelter.
