Haldenstein Castle

Haldenstein Castle is a late medieval fortification that crowns a rocky ridge above the village of Haldenstein. The structures display the typical layout of a fortified residence with walls that adapt to the natural rock formation.

The castle emerged in the late medieval period as a fortified seat for noble families controlling trade through the Grisons mountains. It underwent multiple building campaigns over centuries, reflecting its role as a regional power center.
