Würzbrunnen church, Medieval church in Röthenbach im Emmental, Switzerland
The stone church stands at 957 meters above sea level, featuring late Gothic architecture with a white exterior and prominent bell tower.
Following a fire in 1494, the church underwent reconstruction, replacing an earlier wooden structure that dated back to the early 12th century.
The interior walls received baroque decorations in 1779, incorporating numerous biblical verses that reflect Protestant religious practices of the period.
The church serves as a wedding venue from April to October and remains an active place of worship for the local community.
A charred piece of wood from the 1494 fire remains preserved in a niche on the northern exterior wall.
