Alt-Signau, medieval castle ruin

The stone walls of Alt-Signau Castle stand on a strategic hilltop position overlooking the valleys between Emmental and Aare river regions.

Built in 1130, the castle served as the residence of the Barons of Signau until the mid-14th century when they moved to the new Neu-Signau fortress.
