The estate was acquired by Jacques-Philippe d'Herwarth in 1733, leading to the construction of the current castle structure during the 1760s.
The property earned designation as a Class A Swiss cultural property of national significance, representing architectural heritage of Canton Vaud.
Pepperdine University purchased the castle in 2019 to establish a global conference center and study abroad program location in Switzerland.
The Grand d'Hauteville family maintained ownership of the castle for 225 years after Victoire Cannac inherited the estate in 1794.
