Hauteville Castle

Hauteville is a castle from the 1760s located in Saint-Légier-La Chiésaz, Switzerland, set on spacious grounds that overlook Lake Geneva. The main building displays classical architectural features typical of that construction period.

Jacques-Philippe d'Herwarth purchased the estate in 1733 and commissioned the current castle structure during the 1760s. The property subsequently remained under family ownership through much of the following centuries.

The castle holds the status of a Class A Swiss cultural property reflecting the architectural values of the 1700s. Its design and rooms show how wealthy families of that era lived and built their residences in this region.

The estate spans substantial grounds best explored on foot with good walking shoes and adequate time to appreciate the surroundings. The location offers views of Lake Geneva that are most striking from various points on the property.

The property changed hands in 1733 but later remained under a single family's control for over two centuries. This extended period of continuous ownership left a distinct mark on how the estate developed and was maintained.
