The brick church features five onion domes painted in green and gold, following traditional Russian Revival architectural principles from the 1870s period.
Count Peter Shuvalov commissioned the construction of this religious building in 1878 to honor his daughter Barbara, who died during childbirth in 1872.
The interior contains an ornate iconostasis from 1845 and multiple religious paintings transported directly from Saint Petersburg to maintain Russian Orthodox traditions.
The church opens its doors to visitors every Wednesday afternoon and conducts services in both Slavic and French languages throughout the week.
The construction of this religious edifice required an investment of one million gold francs, demonstrating the substantial financial commitment of Russian nobility in Switzerland.
