La Fourchette, Steel sculpture in Vevey, Switzerland

La Fourchette is a steel sculpture standing 8 meters tall and 1.3 meters wide, rising from Lake Geneva near the Alimentarium museum. The artwork juts prominently from the water and creates an unusual sight against the Alps in the background.

The sculpture was created in 1995 by Jean-Pierre Zaugg to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Alimentarium. After spending time elsewhere, it returned permanently to Vevey in 2007.

The fork embodies Vevey's deep bond with food culture and has become a symbol of the town. It shows how art and culinary passion intertwine in this place.

You can photograph the fork from the Quai Perdonnet promenade, where you have a clear view of the sculpture. The best time for photos is in good weather when the Alps are clearly visible.

The work holds the Guinness World Record as the world's largest fork and weighs 450 kilograms of stainless steel. Despite its size, the fork appears elegant and well-proportioned, not clumsy or exaggerated.
