The École de multimédia et d'art de Fribourg occupies a former pasta factory building from 1904 named La Timbale in the Pérolles district.
Founded in 1987 as Ceruleum private school, the institution became the École de multimédia et d'art de Fribourg in 1997 under Alain Vögeli's direction.
The school provides specialized training in interactive media design, including graphic design, video production, 2D and 3D animation, sound engineering, and web development.
Students can enroll in a three or four-year Interactive Media Designer CFC program or pursue a preparatory year for visual communication studies.
The institution changed its name to eikon, derived from the Greek word for image, reflecting its transformation into a state-owned professional arts school.
