Shing Mun Country Park, Country park in New Territories, Hong Kong
The 1,400-hectare park extends from Lead Mine Pass in the north to Shing Mun Road, featuring diverse landscapes with hills and walking paths.
Construction of Shing Mun Reservoir began in 1923 to address water supply needs, leading to the relocation of villagers from Shing Mun Valley until completion in 1937.
The park contains a fung shui grove near the former Tai Wai Village, preserving over 70 native tree species in a designated protection zone.
Visitors can reach the park via minibus 82 from Tsuen Wan, with facilities including barbecue areas, toilets, refreshment kiosks, and jogging trails throughout the grounds.
The Shing Mun Arboretum houses 7,000 plants representing 300 species native to Hong Kong and Southern China, including numerous endangered specimens.
