Dongjingcheng City Ruins, Film studio complex in Dongyang, China
Dongjingcheng City Ruins is an archaeological site in Taizihe District, Liaoning, China, preserving the remains of a medieval city that once served as a capital of the Jurchen Jin dynasty. The site features earthen ramparts, ruined walls, and foundation traces spread across open land.
The city was founded in the early 12th century as a capital by the Jurchen people before the Jin dynasty moved its seat further south. Over time the urban center was abandoned and gradually reduced to the earthen structures visible today.
The name Dongjingcheng means Eastern Capital City and refers to the former seat of the Jurchen Jin dynasty in this region. Visitors can walk along the remains of earthen walls and foundations that still trace the outline of the old city.
The site is in Taizihe District and is most easily reached by car, as public transport options nearby are limited. Wear sturdy shoes since the ground is uneven and the remains are spread over a large open area that requires walking.
Although this city was once an important residence of the Jin rulers, it is far less known today than other capitals of that dynasty. The earthen walls here were never rebuilt or restored, which means visitors see the site in a form closer to how it looked after centuries of natural decay.
