Bytový dům SOL, High-rise residential building in Bohnice district, Prague, Czech Republic
Bytový dům SOL is a tall residential building in the Bohnice district of Prague with 21 floors and space for about 260 apartments. The ground floor contains a restaurant, cafe, and shops that open directly onto Olsztynska Street.
The building was constructed in the 1970s as part of the Bohnice housing estate development. After the political changes of 1989, it became a hotel before later returning to residential use.
The building shapes how the Bohnice neighborhood looks and shows how living in Prague has changed over time. The shift from hotel to residences reflects how people's choices about city living have evolved.
The building has four elevators to move between the many floors. Access to shops and dining happens directly from the street, making shopping and eating convenient.
During the renovation project from 2002 to 2004, around 130 new cellar spaces were created for residents to use for storage. The building also has dedicated areas for bicycles, strollers, and doing laundry.
