Tauzieher, Bronze statue in Rheinauhafen, Cologne, Germany
The Tauzieher depicts a muscular man securing a thick rope to a bollard, standing at a height of 6.5 meters in limestone material.
Created by sculptor Nikolaus Friedrich in 1911, this monument became the first free-standing public sculpture installed in the city of Cologne.
The statue represents the maritime heritage of Cologne, showing the strength and determination of dock workers who handled heavy ropes in the harbor.
Located near public transportation routes in Rheinauhafen, the statue stands on a raised base that makes it visible from multiple viewing angles.
The North Rhine-Westphalia state recognized its historical importance in 1980, making it one of the first protected monuments in Cologne.
