Ringberghaus, hotel
Ringberghaus is a hotel situated on the Ringberg mountain summit in Suhl, located at approximately 750 meters elevation in the forested landscape of the Thuringian Forest. The structure spans six floors with 290 rooms and offers accommodation alongside a swimming pool, sauna area with Finnish sauna and infrared cabins, beauty lounge with massage services, and two dining establishments.
The hotel was built in 1979 by the East German farmers' association VdgB, originally serving as a holiday destination for farmers from rural eastern regions. Following German reunification, various operators took over management, including a brief affiliation with the Holiday Inn chain during the 1990s.
The hotel welcomes visitors in the tradition of Thuringian hospitality, with attentive service and care for guest comfort. The regional cuisine reflects local eating practices, featuring dishes made with ingredients from the Thuringian Forest area.
The hotel is easily accessible from numerous hiking trails and viewpoints in the surrounding area and provides space for various activities from hiking to winter sports. The facility with pool, sauna, and restaurants is fully self-sufficient, allowing guests to meet all basic needs on-site.
The hotel was constructed on the flattened summit of Ringberg mountain, representing a significant landscape alteration that drew criticism from hikers. Between 2007 and 2009, the international fan festival Eurofurence was held here, attracting thousands of visitors from around the world.
