Wittmundhafen Air Base, military airbase in Germany
Wittmundhafen Air Base is a military airfield near the town of Wittmund in the Aurich district. The facility features long asphalt runways, large hangars, reinforced shelters for aircraft, and functional buildings designed for operational needs.
The airfield was established during the Cold War and has been home to the 71st Tactical Air Wing of the German Air Force since 1959. The wing was named in 1961 after Manfred von Richthofen, the famous World War I pilot.

The airfield is protected by fences and security checks, so visitors cannot access restricted areas inside. From outside the perimeter, the runway and operational structures can be easily seen, especially during regular training flights.
