Düsseldorf-Benrath station, Railway station in Benrath district, Germany
Dusseldorf-Benrath station is an elevated S-Bahn and regional rail stop in the Benrath district of Dusseldorf, with two central platforms and four tracks along the Cologne-Duisburg line. The station building sits above street level and serves both local and regional travelers crossing this part of the Rhine region.
The station first opened in 1845 as part of the expanding railway network in the Rhineland. The current building was constructed in 1932 to replace the older structure as passenger numbers grew.
The station is listed as a heritage monument, which means its 1930s appearance has been kept largely intact. Visitors can see the typical brick architecture of that era directly from the platform.
The station is served by both S-Bahn and regional trains, making it easy to reach from central Dusseldorf or from further along the Rhine. Buses also run from here into the surrounding neighborhoods, so it works well as a starting point for visiting Benrath.
Although the tracks run at an elevated level, the station entrance sits at street level, which makes it easy to find even on a first visit. Looking closely at the building, some original details from the 1932 construction are still visible on the facade.
