Eissporthalle Benrath, Ice sports arena in Benrath district, Düsseldorf, Germany
Eissporthalle Benrath is a modern ice hall in the Benrath district of Düsseldorf with a 60 by 30-meter skating surface designed to hold up to 400 spectators. The facility includes changing rooms, the EISBOX bistro for food and drinks, and parking with electric vehicle charging stations for visitors.
The current facility opened in 2021 as a replacement for the older Sparkassen ice stadium that served the community from 1979 onward. The new building represented a fresh start for local ice sports with improved facilities and modern infrastructure.
The ice hall serves as a gathering place for figure skaters, hockey players, and recreational visitors from the surrounding area. Regular training sessions and open skating times create a rhythm where people of different ages meet and practice together.
The hall rents skates on-site and offers different times for training, competitions, and open skating sessions. Visitors should allow time for changing and check the schedule in advance since hours vary depending on events taking place.
The roof of the building is covered with solar panels and features extensive green roof systems that help regulate temperature and shape the surroundings. This sustainable design makes the hall an unusual example of eco-conscious sports infrastructure in an urban setting.
