Kirchen

Kirchen is an urban municipality in the Altenkirchen district and serves as the administrative hub for the surrounding region. The town sits in a hilly landscape where local government functions support the wider community.

Kirchen merged with the neighboring settlement of Wehbach in 1942, creating Kirchen-Wehbach as a single entity. This union lasted until the mid-1960s, when administrative reforms established the modern municipality as it exists today.
