Bröhan Museum

The Bröhan Museum is housed in a former military barracks and displays an extensive collection spanning the period from 1889 to 1939. The exhibition includes paintings, furniture, ceramics, and decorative objects that document the artistic movements of that era.

Karl H. Bröhan founded the museum in 1973 with his private collection, which he donated to Berlin in 1983. This collection established the foundation for what the museum displays today.

The collection features works by Berlin Secession artists and porcelain from various European manufacturers. You can see how these objects reflect the taste and craftsmanship of their time.

The museum dedicates over 1000 square meters to illustrating the transition from Art Nouveau through Art Deco to Functionalism using furniture, ceramics, and decorative objects. This display shows how artistic language fundamentally changed over just a few decades.
