Antikenmuseum im Schnoor, Greek antiquities museum in Schnoor, Bremen, Germany
The Antikenmuseum im Schnoor is an art museum in Bremen's old town that focused on ancient Greek ceramics. The collection included more than 60 vases made between 560 and 350 BCE using different painting techniques.
The museum was founded in 2005 by collectors Heidrun and Manfred Zimmermann, who shared their private collection. In 2018, the entire collection was transferred to Hamburg's Museum of Arts and Crafts.
The images on the vessels depict scenes from daily life, myths, and social customs of ancient Greeks. Through these depictions, you can see directly into the thoughts and ways of that ancient society.
The museum was located in the historic Marterburg building in the Schnoor district at Bremen's center. It offered regular lectures to help visitors understand the exhibitions and their subjects better.
The museum housed a Panathenaic prize amphora attributed to the Kleophrades Painter, one of the most famous ancient ceramicists. It also displayed works by the Fallow Deer Painter, showing the range of ancient pottery craftsmanship.
