Bunker Komplex 5000, Underground military complex in Wandlitz, Germany.
Bunker Komplex 5000 is an underground military installation in Wandlitz consisting of several interconnected bunkers. The site spans access tunnels, ventilation shafts and technical rooms distributed across three levels.
The complex was built in the late 1970s as a command center for the National People's Army of East Germany. After German reunification the facility was shut down in 1993 and parts of the site were dismantled.
The command post carried the code name Pearl and housed dozens of soldiers across three floors below ground. The rooms were fitted with filters, backup power and independent water supplies so that military staff could continue operations even during attacks.
The northern section is privately owned and not accessible, while the southern area lies in the forest and is crossed by walking trails. Above ground some entrances and ventilation pipes are visible among trees and shrubs.
The facility was one of the last East German bunkers completed during the 1980s. Construction continued alongside political relaxation between East and West, even though the project could have been halted much earlier.
