Waldsiedlung, Cultural heritage monument in Bernau bei Berlin, Germany.
Waldsiedlung is a former residential compound in Bernau bei Berlin, Germany, that extends across forested terrain. The houses are distributed in concentric circles across the grounds, which are now partly used as clinic facilities.
The site was created in 1958 as a secured residential area for Socialist Unity Party officials and their families. After reunification, the buildings were gradually converted into medical facilities.
The name refers to the forest location on the city outskirts, where the area is surrounded by old pine trees. Today only a few preserved buildings recall the original function of the complex.
The site lies on the northern edge of Bernau, reachable via forest paths and quiet side streets. Visitors find individual buildings and traces of the former layout, which now belong to the clinic area.
The arrangement in two rings followed a strict security concept with different access levels. A mesh wire fence and a wall separated the outer residential zone from the inner area.
