Bismarck Tower, Memorial tower in Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany
The 27.5-meter-tall sandstone structure combines art nouveau and neo-Romanesque architectural elements, featuring rough-hewn regional limestone blocks and an observation platform.
Between 1907 and 1912, architect Wilhelm Kreis designed and constructed this monument as part of a nationwide initiative to honor Chancellor Otto von Bismarck.
The tower represents early 20th-century German nationalism and serves as one of 173 remaining Bismarck monuments that were built across the German Empire.
Visitors can climb an internal iron stairway to reach the panorama platform, which offers views over Mülheim an der Ruhr and the Rhine River.
During the winter season, the tower transforms into a large-scale Advent candle, visible from the Rheingau region during evening hours.
