Burg Eisenhardt, Medieval castle in Bad Belzig, Germany.
Burg Eisenhardt is a stone fortress on Bricciusberg hill near Bad Belzig featuring a central keep approximately 28 meters (92 feet) high. The castle complex contains a museum, administrative offices, a library, and overnight accommodations.
The fortress originated from a Slavic settlement called Belizi around 997 and was transformed by the Ascanians into a Romanesque stronghold. After damage from Swedish forces in the 1600s, the structure underwent major reconstruction in the following decades.
The courtyard hosts musical performances where visitors can experience live concerts in a medieval setting. This blend of past architecture and present-day entertainment gives the space an active cultural role.
The castle sits on a hilltop and involves some climbing to reach, though the paths are well-maintained and pass through wooded surroundings. Inside and around the complex you can find different areas to explore, with special events occurring seasonally.
The central keep rises prominently above the surrounding walls and is visible from Bad Belzig below, creating a striking profile on the skyline. This distinctive shape makes it recognizable from many points in the surrounding region.
