Wolfsberg, Mountain summit in Saxon Switzerland, Germany.
Wolfsberg is a mountain summit in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains of Saxony, rising to 343 meters above sea level. The terrain is marked by distinctive sandstone formations that shape both the landscape and the hiking route.
The area opened to visitors in the late 1800s when an inn was built below the summit. This building later developed into the hotel that stands there today and marked the start of tourism in the region.
The area sits along paths that artists and walkers have used for generations to experience and sketch the sandstone landscape. Today visitors can follow these artistic routes themselves and understand why the region attracted so many painters.
The best access is from Schmilka railway station in the Elbe valley, where marked trails lead toward the summit. The climb follows the terrain through sandstone landscape and requires standard hiking gear and proper footwear.
The summit sits on private hotel property and is not freely accessible like other peaks in the region. From this vantage point visitors can see how close it stands to other well-known rock summits like Grosser Zschirnstein.
