Mellowpark, Outdoor sports complex in Köpenick, Germany
Mellowpark is a large skatepark and sports complex in the Köpenick district of Berlin, with dedicated areas for BMX, skateboarding, basketball, and table tennis. The site sits along the Spree river and offers both covered and open-air sections designed for different skill levels.
The park was founded in 2001 and had to leave its original location in 2012 when urban development projects reclaimed the space in another Berlin neighborhood. The move to Köpenick allowed for a much larger site and the development of new areas.
Mellowpark is one of the few spots in Berlin where skaters, BMX riders, and inline skaters share the same grounds without getting in each other's way. The crowd tends to be open and multigenerational, making it a natural gathering point for anyone drawn to wheeled sports.
The site is easy to reach by S-Bahn, with the nearest station a short walk away. Bringing protective gear is recommended, as some areas require a helmet and knee pads to ride.
The site contains one of Berlin's largest wooden indoor halls, which functions as a covered skatepark and keeps the space usable in bad weather. The hall was not originally built for this purpose, which gives it an unusual shape that riders have adapted over time.
