Burg Wildenstein, Castle ruin in Zimmern ob Rottweil, Germany.
The castle stands on a rocky spur surrounded by the Eschach River on three sides, with four trenches dividing the mountain into three sections.
The castle served as a control point for the road between Rottweil and Villingen, with first documented mention of owner Aigelwart von Falkenstein in 1315.
The fortress belonged to the Lords of Lupfen before being transferred to St. Georgen Monastery in 1466 after its initial destruction.
The remaining square tower measures 11.5 meters on each side with walls 3.7 meters thick, containing an inner space of 7 meters by 7 meters.
The castle structure included a residential tower, a palace, a courtyard with a cistern, and an eastern section that contained a gatehouse for defense.
